At Slovenija-transplant, we handle the collection of personal data responsibly and in accordance with the regulations and internal legal acts applicable in the Republic of Slovenia and the European Union.

Controller of personal data

The administrator of personal data is the Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Transplantation of Organs and Tissues Slovenija transplant, Zaloška cesta 7, Ljubljana, 1000 Ljubljana (hereinafter Slovenija-transplant).

The purpose of collecting personal data

Slovenija-transplant is a national competent authority that takes care of the operation and development of the field of organ donation and transplantation. The Institute creates the organisational conditions, professional protocols and appropriate legislation to implement a successful, ethical, high-quality and transparent organ donation programme in Slovenia.
It supports donor hospitals in professional dilemmas. It educates the professional public and informs citizens about the possibility of treatment with transplantation and encourages voluntary decision in favour of organ donation. It manages the national donor register.
In order to fulfil its tasks and to ensure the transparency of its activities, the Institute may organise various public events that are recorded on audio or video. The recordings of these events are published on online portals and in Slovenija-transplant publications.

Types of personal data processed and source of personal data collection

In order to fulfil its tasks, Slovenija-transplant receives and processes various personal data about individuals. Slovenija-transplant may receive personal data directly from the person to whom the data relates. It may also receive personal data from other personal data controllers if this is provided for by law.

Categories of persons whose personal data are processed

Slovenija-transplant processes the personal data of persons involved in the procedures and tasks performed by the organisation, including in particular:

  • persons who are potential organ donors, organ donors and recipients, coordinators and other persons involved in the organ donation process
  • persons employed by Slovenija-transplant,
  • contractual partners of Slovenija-transplant,
  • persons who have a contract with Slovenija-transplant,
  • visitors and users of Slovenija-transplant’s services,
  • other persons who come into contact with the public institution where personal data are processed.

Users of personal data

Slovenija-transplant allows the processing or disclosure of personal data only to authorised personal data users. Individual personal data users are defined in more detail in the personal data processing records.

Storage of personal data

Slovenija-transplant stores and protects personal data in an appropriate manner, both in physical and electronic form. Data processed for the purpose of fulfilling contractual obligations will be stored until all obligations arising from the contractual relationship have been fulfilled. The data will be kept for as long as required by the regulations that determine the retention periods for each type of material on the basis of the Act on the protection of archival and documentary material and archives. Once the purpose of the processing has been fulfilled or the legally prescribed retention period has expired, the personal data will be deleted, destroyed, blocked or anonymised.

Slovenija-transplant stores data processed on the basis of a person’s consent until the person’s consent is withdrawn. The user may at any time submit a written request to the official address of Slovenija-transplant to withdraw consent and the processing of personal data.

Protection of personal data

Slovenija-transplant ensures the protection of privacy by complying with all applicable legal regulations. The public institution also provides all necessary technical and organisational support for the protection and safeguarding of personal data against loss, alteration, theft and access by unauthorised third parties.

Disclosure of personal data to third parties

All personal data processed by Slovenia-transplant is stored in information systems located in the territory of the Republic of Slovenia and the European Union and is not transferred to third countries outside the EU.

The existence of automated decision making

As a responsible organisation, Slovenija-transplant does not use automated decision-making, including profiling.

Rights of the users

In accordance with the applicable legislation in the field of personal data protection, an individual may assert their rights in relation to the processing of personal data against the personal data controller. Persons under the age of 15

Persons under the age of 15 may only provide their data via the website or in any other relationship with Slovenija-transplant with the express consent of their parents, foster parents or legal guardians.

Slovenija-transplant reserves the right to amend and supplement this Privacy Policy. Individuals whose personal data is processed by Slovenija-transplant, as well as users of the website, will be informed of any changes to this Privacy Policy on the Slovenija-transplant website.
